Charlottesville-Apple Picking & Football-17 1/2 months

(I know I'm a little behind on blogging....but our fall has been crazy busy!!)

Speech-Language Update: 17 1/2 months (feel free to skip reading this if you're bored, but I love documenting all of these things!)
  • Ty is consistently using 2 word phrases and occasionally uses 3 word phrases (i.e. "hit a ball").
  • His multisyllabic word vocabulary has also increased (i.e. he can say "dinosaur" and "cheerio" perfectly).
  • He also has /l/ blends and /r/ blend approximations (i.e. "play"="pway").
  • He answers all kinds of wh-questions.
  • He can imitate any full words or phrases you ask him to imitate. (i.e., he used to call his "lovie" "ya ya" (which in the speech world makes total sense). I told him that it was "Lo-VIE" and it was like a light went off in his head and he now calls it "ya vie".
Interests and other knowledge:
  • Ty continues to be obsessed with all sports. He knows the names of all of the different sports balls and can recognize each sport through pictures and TV. (....and yes, he makes his daddy very proud).
  • He can fill in missing words to the Good Ole' song.
  • He loves reading and will sit by himself (his favorite place to read is in our bed) and read for a long period of time (which is pretty impressive given the fact that he can't sit still for pretty much anything else).'
  • He knows all his colors (receptively and expressively)
  • He can recognize the letters in his name in other contexts and constantly points them out. He can also recognize the letter "v" (because of the UVA V Sabre...yes, the first letters that Ty learned were "T" for Tyler and "V" for the V sabre...).
Funny Story: We were out for a walk in DC with our friends Meredith and Hudson. I parked the car and put Ty into the stroller. As I was paying the parking meter, Ty starts yelling "P.....P....P" over and over again. I'm thinking to myself, "what is he talking about???" When I look down at him he is clearly pointing at the large circled "P" on the parking meter machine. How did he know that???? I've never taught that to him and as far as I know (....I've asked all of his grandparents and his nanny) no one ever did. So just how did he learn that? Who knows. It's pretty amazing how fast kids learn. Ty is truly like a sponge. He can hear something in passing and remember it.

We just love Charlottesville in the Fall!
Our day began the only way a day in Charlottesville should....breakfast at Bodos! Why DC has not brought this restaurant up here is still a mystery to me.

Then off to Carter Mountain for some apple picking fun. What a difference from last year.

Ty must have eaten 5 apples!

Our fam! What an amazing view!
Some fun in the wagon!

Wow...look at all of these apples!

We spent the game with our great friends Robert and Lauren and their kids Robert and Joshua!

Ty was got so tired....I'm really not sure I could love him anymore!
