Week 5: 1 month Dr's apt, Rosh Hashanah, school

It's amazing that on Tuesday Zachary will be 6 weeks.  Where has the time gone? In the last week, Zachary has smiled 3 times that I swear were real smiles and not just gas!

Zachary had his one month doctor's appointment (at 5 weeks):
WEIGHT: 10 lbs (50th%)
LENGTH: 21 5/8 in. (50th%)
HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE: 14 7/8 (75th%)

What a big boy!!! He's already grown out of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes.  He's wearing 3 month and 3-6 month clothes....crazy!! He continues to try to bat at hanging toys on his activity mat.  His tummy time is also going well.  Dr. Myers said his neck strength was pretty incredible!

Here's my photo journal for this week:

Rosh Hashanah services with Gee Gee Sue:
He had the best time! He loved the "sermon" and came home and retold the whole story to J.D.  We've been talking a lot about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Here's how I explained Yom Kippur: It's when you think about all of the things that you should say sorry for.  They are things that you are saying you're going to do better next year.  Tyler really seemed to get it and was able to generate quite a few things to say sorry for.  During the Tashlict service, he danced with all the kids to the wonderful music. After, we all made our way to the pond with our bread.  For each piece of bread you throw in the pond, you think of something that you are sorry for.  Tyler and I did this together and he was able to come up with some wonderful thing (completely unprompted):
  • I be a good listener to Pops on the golf course
  • I will hold mommy's hand in the parking lot
  • I will be nice to Daddy
  • I will share toys with my friends (there were several of these, listing specific toys)
  • I will be nice to Zachary
  • I will brush my teeth
  • I will be a good listener when it's time to ..... (again there were several of these....take a shower, take a nap, etc.)
...pretty impressive for a two year old.  It makes taking him to things like this so worth while, because he really seems to get it! I love my sweet boy!
Uncle Pete and Aunt Jane came to visit! They came to music class too!

Check out this big boy!

School:  9/21/12
Drop off was very hard again, but apparently after 15 minutes, he settled down and the early pick up at 11, seemed to help set him up for success as well!
