11-11 1/2 months: Friends and Family plus weekend in Richmond! Happy Birthday Aunt Yay-Ya

I think I'm in denial that my little baby boy is turning 1 in a week....every time I look at him, he looks so tall and so old to me! His hair is a very light brown with lots of blond and even some light red highlights. He's talking like crazy. He wants to be so independent. He can do independent play with his toys for up to 15 minutes. He's eating only real food. We're almost done breast feeding. My little Ty guy is growing up. I'm trying to tell myself that this shouldn't mean tears, it should just mean excitement for what's to come! I feel like I love every stage more than the last, so there's really nothing to be sad about! I love you Tyler Colby! You make me the happiest Mama in the whole world! Daddy and I are so proud of you!

So here's what's been going on these days:
I obviously have to talk about Ty's speech, so here it goes:
  • Ty finally got him /m/ sound at 11 months, 1 week, so instead of calling me "Bamba", he now calls me the most beautiful word I've ever heard come out of his mouth "Mama"
  • Believe it or not, Tyler has about 100 words. They are starting to become two syllables (Mama, Dada, wawa (water), wawa baba (water bottle), etc.).
  • He is using more and more 2 word phrases.
  • Tyler has been throwing food off of his tray to signal that he is all done, so we've been working on having him say and/or sign "all done" instead of throwing his food...it's actually working pretty well.
  • He is now responding to a stern look, get down, don't touch, etc.
  • Ty is really loving his toys these days! The bus still remains one of his ultimate favorites! He loves to put the people in and out of the bus! He even opens the door, puts them in the right way, and closes the door! He loves to put things in to a container and take the out as well!
  • Very exciting news!! Ty learned how to put pieces into his big chunky knob puzzle. At first he would only do the circle, but just this morning, he did all of the pieces!!! The very beginnings of matching. He even says "s" for circle!
We look Ty swimming at the pool this weekend and he loved playing basketball in the pool! He also walked in and out of the pool holding me hands (which is a big deal, since if you try that on land, he drops to the ground immediately). He also continued to walk about 15 steps while holding my hands to Daddy on the pool deck!

We're trying to find some good shoes for Tyler. These are the Pediped look a likes from Target that I thought I would try...but Ty couldn't keep them on his feel for 2 seconds, so we returned them and are back to square 1. (Thanks to Lauren for letting us borrow Robert's shoes for time being!!)
Say cheese for the camera.....(he actually says "teez" and smiles!)
