We went to the doctor because Ty went from sleeping though the night for the past month and a half to waking up 4-5 every night for the past 10 days. (For anyone that knows, Ty has only ever been up 2x/night since he was born. This only lasted about 3-4 weeks when he was down to 1 feeding in the night. Ty has never woken up in the night if it wasn't to eat. Needless to say, being up 5x/night has been quite a shock to our systems.)
The doctor believes that it's possible that at this point, Ty needs more than just breast milk to get him through the night, so she suggested that we add 3 tsp of rice cereal to a 5-5.5 oz. bottle of pumped breast milk for his last feed of the night (8 pm).
We started this tonight and it went very well. He actually ended up eating 6 oz. It took him 20-30 minutes to fall asleep (which rarely happens, as he almost always falls asleep during his last feeding of the day).
Fingers crossed that he sleeps through the night...or at least gets up less than 4-5x/night.
